| The West Berlin Fire Company was incorporated
in 1916 and our first piece was a horse drawn soda & acid unit purchased
from another department. Our first motorized piece was a 200-gallon
soda & acid unit purchased in 1918. The department was funded mostly
through fund raising donations and some funding from the Township.
In 1954 Fire District 1 of Berlin Twp. was established and their first budget was $25,000. Since then through the hard work of its members and the Fire District, they have provided the residents of Berlin Twp the best possible protection at one of the lowest fire tax rates in New Jersey.
